When Do I Have to Submit my 2025 H-2A Application?
Planning ahead is key for a smooth H-2A application process, especially with the busy 2025 agricultural season fast approaching. Submitting your application on time ensures you’ll have the workers you need when your operation requires them. To help you navigate the process, here’s a quick breakdown of the key timelines for the H-2A program this year.
General Timeline Guidelines
1. Submission Timelines: Applications must be submitted at least 60 calendar days but no more than 75 calendar days before the date you need your workers to begin. Submitting earlier is always better to allow for processing and any potential corrections.
2. Job Order Submission ETA-790: The required job order must be submitted to the State Workforce Agency (SWA) at least 60 calendar days before the workers’ start date.
3. Department of Labor 9142 Filing: Once you’ve filed your paperwork with the State Workforce Agency the next step is filing with the Department of Labor. This can be done after receiving SWA approval or after 7 days, whichever comes first.
Delays in application submission can lead to bottlenecks in processing, risking your ability to get workers when you need them most. Start preparing early by gathering necessary documentation, finalizing job details, and ensuring compliance with H-2A requirements.
